What is the R-value of insulation on brewman brewhouse, fermentation tank and beer brite tank?
R-value is the ability of stopping heat loss for insulation material. The higher R-value represents the higher performance.
But how to calculate the R-Value?
There is a formula to calculate R-value.
R=H/λ.
H means the thickness of the insulation layer.
λ means the thermal conductivity(Heat Conductivity).
Normally, the average λ-value of rock wood is 0.045w/m.k,
while Polyurethane(PU) is 0.025w/m.k.
For our beer brewhouse system, we use 80mm aluminum silicate as insulation layer.
According to R=H/λ. The R-value is about 1.78
For the conical fermenter and bright beer tank, we use 80mm Polyurethane(PU).
The R-value is about 3.2 according to the formula.
As we can see, the PU has higher R-value than aluminum silicate.
While aluminum silicate has higher temperature resistance than PU.
That is why we use aluminum silicate on beer brewhouse while PU is on fermentation tank and brite tank.
